CMA Research Institute team members recently spotted a lone manatee calf swimming in circles in the waters of Gales Point. After monitoring the animal for some time with no sign of its mother, the team took action and rescued the animal. Without nutrition and care from its mother, the manatee would not have survived. Following rescue, the animal was transported to a center for rehabilitation. | Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Watch as our team and partners rescue a newborn manatee. Our staff is now planning responses to additional entrapments in Fort Myers, Largo, Cape Coral and St. Pete. High water levels from excessive rain and storm surge can allow animals to travel inland or pass barriers to closed water systems.
