Naval Station Newport is set to host a major celebration on Saturday, Aug. 23, with its Salute to Navy 250 concert and fireworks show. The free event will feature live music, children’s activities, food vendors, and a grand fireworks display over Narragansett Bay at 9:15 p.m. The festivities begin at 2 p.m. for military members and their families, with the general public invited starting at 4 p.m. Performances include the Toe Jam Puppet Band, Felix Brown, Swamp Dogs, and the Navy Band Northeast.
