She preserved a lot of the early furniture and held on to things other people might have thrown away, meaning that today this is as close a picture as you’ll get to early 20th century life in a Glasgow tenement. Agnes worked as a shorthand typist in the city. Despite there being a bedroom in the house, she slept in the kitchen with her mother and it’s thought they took in lodgers. #glasgo
