In this rare footage from around 1940, a creative constructor modified his Citroën Traction Avant to run on kitchen gas during fuel shortages. A gas balloon was mounted on top of the car, filled via a hose, and used to power the vehicle through the streets. This was one of many ingenious wartime solutions developed during fuel rationing across Europe.
