In case no one ever told you … you have to clean your toaster Start by unplugging the machine and making sure it isn’t hot. Locate, remove, and empty your crumb tray. Set this aside in your sink or later! Shake your toaster upside down over the sink or trashcan to remove any loose crumbs. Or, over your floor if you don’t mind sweeping the crumbs up later.
