The Day the U.S. Government Left Its Own Men to Die 🚨 On June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War, the USS Liberty — a clearly marked American naval intelligence ship — was attacked in broad daylight by Israeli forces. 🇺🇸 34 Americans were slaughtered. 🩸 171 more were wounded. 📡 The ship was unarmed and flying a U.S. flag. 📞 SOS calls went out — but help was recalled by President Lyndon B. Johnson himself. You read that right: air support was called off.
